27 Sep – Inspired by the works of filmmaker Professor Datuk A Razak Mohaideen, producer Azman Ahmad decided that Hafiz Nafiah's "Mat Kola" should be filmed thoroughly in the northern dialect. The AA Success Pictures producer stated that he has always been a fan of movies with northern dialect like "Mami Jarum" and "Nana Tanjung", helmed by Razak in the 2000s, and that was how the upcoming movie came to be.
Asked if he is trying to attract the attention of the northern audiences, Azman stated that he would love for all Malaysians to watch the movie.
"But of course, for starters, I hope the movie will do well in the northern states. I hope it will bring lots of profits but at the same time, I would be happy with whatever we'd make," he said. "Mat Kola", which marks the directorial debut of Hafiz Nafiah, tells the story of three Kuala Kedah lads -Mat Ki, Mat Yon and Mat Not who decide to start their own burger stalls. The movie stars singer Usop, Azman himself, as well as Taiyuddin Bakar, aside from Rozita Che Wan, Putri Hanan and Ropie. The film has been in theatres since 21 September.
