16 Mar – Always one to never shy away from controversial opinions, TV personality Piers Morgan slammed Angela Bassett for her now viral sour reaction to losing to Jamie Lee Curtis at the Oscars. Sharing a clip from when Curtis was announced the Best Supporting Actress for her performance in "Everything Everywhere All At Once" at the Academy Awards recently, Morgan likened Bassett's reaction to "sucking or inhaling a large bottle of particularly toxic vinegar." "When you lose, you got to try and pretend you're happy for the people who win. And this is something that Angela Bassett didn't get the memo on," he said. "She's supposed to be an actress. Surely in that moment, what you do is you just act your way out of it. You pretend you're happy for Jamie Lee Curtis, don't you?"
Meanwhile, guest Sharon Osbourne was more sympathetic, saying that she understood the disappointment, which is why she won't let husband Ozzy go to award shows. "She knew she would be on camera, and she did what she felt. She didn't play the game. She didn't pretend, she didn't applaud... She knew what she was doing. She's such an experienced actress," she said. It is noted that Bassett was the favourite to win the said accolade, after having won multiple awards for her performance in "Wakanda Forever", including at the Golden Globes Awards. Meanwhile, Curtis previously won for her performance in "Everything Everywhere All At Once" at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
