13 Apr – Michelle Yeoh is now back in Malaysia and the first thing she did was bring home her Oscar accolade to her mum Janet. On 12 April, the Ipoh-born actress shared two photos on social media, one in which her mother can be seen holding the trophy in her hands, and another one of Michelle bringing the trophy to her late father's grave. "Brought Mr. O home... Without my parents love and trust and support... I wouldn't be here today... love so much," she posted.
Michelle, who won Best Actress at the Academy Awards this year for her performance in "Everything Everywhere All At Once" is also set to celebrate her homecoming with fans at Pavilion KL's Centre Court on 18 April. She reportedly will be attending a private concert dinner for her mother's birthday as well.
It is noted that Michelle previously dedicated her win to Janet, expressing in her speech, "I have to dedicate this to my mom, all the moms in the world, because they are really the superheroes. And without them, none of us will be here tonight. She's 84 and I'm taking this home to her. She's watching right now in Malaysia, KL, with my family and friends. I love you guys. I'm bringing this home to you."
