27 Feb – Michelle Yeoh continues to make history by winning Best Actress yet again, this time at the SAG Awards. The actress, who won for her performance in "Everything Everywhere All At Once", became the first Asian woman to win the category at the awards. "I think if I speak my heart will explode," she expressed. "SAG- AFTRA, to get this from you who understand what it is to get here... everyone of you know the journey, the roller coaster ride, the ups and downs. But most importantly we never give up. I thank you... This is not just for me, this is for every little girl who looks like me." She later added jokingly, "I'm grateful and my mum will be eternally grateful to all of you."
It is noted that Yeoh is also only the second Asian woman to win in a film category, following last year's Best Supporting Actress win for Yuh Jung-Youn for "Minari". Yeoh is not the only person from the movie to win an award. Ke Huy Quan won Best Supporting Actor, becoming the first Asian actor to win at the annual ceremony, while Jamie Lee Curtis won in the Best Supporting Actress category. The veteran actress, daughter of legendary actors Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, also hugged and kissed Michelle Yeoh on the lips after she was announced the winner, and went on to call herself a nepo baby in her acceptance speech.
