18 May – Sara Ali is the picture of Indian glamour as she appeared on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival recently. The actress, who made her Cannes debut this year, appeared in a lehenga created by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, which features hand-embroidered multi-panel skirt, an enchanting one-shoulder drape and a long head veil. "You Cannes do it," she posted on Instagram. Speaking about her look during the red carpet, Sara expressed, "I've always been proud of my Indianness. It embodies who I am, it's fresh, it's modern and also traditional."
The look won praise from fans and netizens alike, who mostly complimented her choice of wearing an Indian traditional outfit to an international event. One netizen commented, "The true representation of India... A Royal representation." This is not the first time an Indian actress graced the Cannes red carpet in a traditional Indian look. Among others, Deepika Padukone appeared in a black and gold saree at the 2022 event, while Ameesha Patel wore a Manish Malhotra lehenga back in 2013. Sara will be seen next in the upcoming romantic comedy "Zara Hatke Zara Bach Ke" with Vicky Kaushal.
