Zul Ariffin leads in "Syerif"

14 Feb – Astro Shaw is now set for another exciting year in movies!

For 2024, Astro Shaw is lining up great films of different genres such as blockbuster action, horror, musical comedy and drama, as well as the prequel of a popular franchise.

Films awaiting audiences at the cinemas this year are "Syerif", "The Experts", "Baik Punya Ah Long", "Gold", "Khawarij" and "Projek: Kahar".

Vice President and Head of Astro Shaw and Nusantara Malay Business, Raja Jastina Raja Arshad said, "Alhamdulillah, last year our films received a positive response and among them was 'Polis Evo 3', which successfully earned RM54 million. Thus it became a catalyst for us to keep moving forward."

"We understand that the audiences have diversified tastes, which is why we put the focus on six films that aim to increase the extraordinary experience with fresh story ideas, thus driving towards our objective to create local movies that can compete with foreign films," she added.

"Syerif"

The first entry from Astro Shaw would be "Syerif", a Syafiq Yusof movie that stars Zul Ariffin, Syafiq Kyle, Aaron Aziz and Elizabeth Tan among others, and depicts the dark side of the uniformed force.

"The Experts"

"The Experts", which is a heist film, is helmed by Andre Chiew and Nizam Shah, and stars Aaron Aziz, Syafiq Kyle, Remy Ishak, Mimi Lana and Ray Dap Dap as siblings with their own unique expertise as they plan for a robbery.

"Baik Punya Ah Long"

"Baik Punya Ah Long", which will be released in the Q3, unites Zizan Razak and Johan in a musical comedy by Afdlin Shauki that revolves around two loan sharks with the hearts of gold.

"Gold"

Meanwhile, "Gold" is a biopic that revolves around the Paralympic athlete Cheah Liek Hou and is directed by Adrian Teh of "Malbatt: Misi Bakara" fame. It stars Jack Tan, Farid Kamil, Fabian Loo, Wan Raja, Yasmin Hani, and many more.

On the other hand, "Khawarij" is helmed by Syamsul Yusof, who is known for movies like "Khurafat", "Munafik" and its sequel.

"Projek: Kahar"

As for "Projek: Kahar", the movie is a prequel to the popular franchise, "Projek: High Council", and will have Amir Ahnaf reprising his role as Kahar as he transitions from a normal student to become the "Kapla" of High Council.
