21 Oct - The allocation of RM30 million for MADANI Creative Youth programme as announced in the 2025 Budget by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim proves that the government fully supports efforts to attract the interest of the young generation into venturing in the field of creative arts.

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (FINAS), Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib said that the government believes that the process of fostering interest needs to be done much earlier as the youth will be the next generation of those in the field of arts.

"Among other focuses is cultivating identity, love for the country, and most importantly, being able to generate the economy of the youth through content production," he said.

"The proposal to organise this MADANi Creative Youth programme is also the brainchild of the Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil. Under FINAS there is no specific programme for youth. We have also held discussions with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and the National Youth Council. Considering that KBS does not yet have a programme with creative elements like this and their focus is only on sports, we decided to send a proposal paper to them to be examined," he said.

The sum of RM30 million is included in the RM160 million allocation provided by the government for artistes. Aside from the said programme, RM65 million is allocated for the Digital Content Fund (DKD), Film Production Incentives Malaysia (RM40 million) and MyCreative Ventures (RM25 million).

"This programme will be implemented throughout the country. We will go to each state and meet the youth who are creative enough to help guide them in using technology and teach them how to prepare content in the right way," said Azmir. "We will also make sure that the content has an identity, has elements of nationalism, promotes Malaysia and is loaded with positive messages."
