13 Dec - It looks like Disney is continuing on with its live-action remakes with Rapunzel being the latest project.

It was reported that director Michael Gracey, known for the musical "The Greatest Showman", is currently in negotiations to helm the upcoming "Tangled" movie, based on the Brothers Grimm character that was made into an animated film of the aforementioned title in 2010.

The latest draft of the screenplay is being worked on by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who is also helming Sony's reboot of "I Know What You Did Last Summer".

In the Disney version of the said fairy tale, Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore) hatches a plan with the outlaw Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi) to leave the tower where she has been living and trapped in to watch the sky lanterns. Unbeknownst to her, the lanterns are released every year to commemorate her birthday, as she is the princess that was kidnapped when she was a baby.

The film made more than USD 590 million at the global box office, and was nominated at the Oscars in the Best Song category for "I See the Light".

It is noted that Disney's most recent live-action project is "Mufasa: The Lion King", which will hit theatres this month. It is followed by "Snow White", starring Rachel Zegler, which will be released in March 2025.
