Joe Russo brings Hollywood strategy to English football

24 Jan - Following the footsteps of several other Hollywood big names, filmmaker Joe Russo of the Russo Brothers was revealed to have joined the English football world by being a part of the Sheffield United board of directors.

The news was announced by co-chairmen Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, saying that Russo is joined by former chief executive of NBA side Cleveland Cavaliers Len Komorski, and real-estate mogul Terry Ahern.

"We want to see the Blades competing in the top-flight of English football consistently, not just on a one-off basis. An important element of this is ensuring we have the highest quality team not just on the pitch but in the boardroom as well," said Rosen and Eltoukhy.

"Each of Joe, Len and Terry bring outstanding capabilities and decades of experience to the table as we plan for the long term, develop the brand and ensure we have the best infrastructure in place."

It is noted that the second-tier club was taken over by US-led consortium, COH Sports, last month.

The "Avengers: Endgame" co-director was previously spotted at a game with Ryan Reynolds, who co-owns Wrexham AFC alongside Rob McElhenney. Aside from the two, it was revealed that former NFL quarterback Tom Brady is also part of a group that owns Birmingham City.
