19 Mar - Entertainment company Village Roadshow Entertainment Group has recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US amid long-drawn legal battle with Warner Bros. Discovery.

The production house, known for movies like "The Matrix" and "Joker", has sought bankruptcy protection in Delaware on 17 March with USD 223.8 million in asset-backed secured notes and USD 163.1 million of senior secured debt, according to court documents.

It is noted that the company filed a legal complaint in 2022 against Warner Bros. over the release of "The Matrix Resurrections" on HBO Max streaming platforms, allegedly depriving the company of theatre revenues.
