If you like movies with few plot twist and sufficient comedy to get through in one sitting, then give "Lelio PoPo" a try. It's a light-hearted comedy that teaches you a thing or two about life. But even if you despise comedy, fret not as you won't be disappointed by what's being served in front of you.

"Lelio PoPo" tells the story of two deejays, Jiang Man Da (KK) and Lu Ye Chang (Luke), who were once the most famous and popular radio deejays. However, known for their bad working attitude and etiquettes, eventually both are fired by their superior and shunned off by other major radio stations. In an attempt to get back their job, they disguise themselves as two grandmas and succeed in doing so.

The movie starts off with the usual quirky agenda play out by the deejays, poking fun at social issues and people in general. It's not often enough we get to see how a character gets to establish this way. Malaysian filmmaker, Adrian Teh who is known for his conceptual style of shooting decides to ditch his usual approach and go all out on making a simple and straight-to-the-point movie. The result is not too bad.

The actors are definitely in their milieu, each playing out their role comfortably. Nothing is out of place once the camera starts rolling. Kudos should be given to both KK and Luke for being the "sporty-grandma", enduring hours of make-up just to give their best to the audience. If you by any chance, hate the concept, you will at least enjoy the funny antics by these two lovely "old ladies".

However, one of the problems with the movie is consistency. Some scenes appear to be rather choppy and do not gel with the rest of the movie. It appears that the scene exists for the sake of existing and this reviewer thinks it's better to just leave things as it is.

"Lelio PoPo" is very Malaysian so-to-speak and will not fail to put a smile onto people's faces when the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee's song Getaran Jiwa is being played throughout the movie. But then it is not immediately understood as to how interracial marriage got fitted into the story.

Made and produced in Malaysia, "Lelio PoPo" flair far better than expected. Do give this a try.
