A Hollywood remake of the 2009 Swedish movie "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" which was the first movie based upon "The Millennium Trilogy" book series by the late author and journalist Stieg Larsson. It revolves around the tale of serial murder and corporate trickery, complicated international financial fraud and the buried evil past of powerful people. In the movie, Mikael Blomkvist (Craig Daniel) is a writer who loses a libel case against a corrupt Swedish industrialist and is sentenced to prison. Blomkvist is hired by Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer) to solve the 40-year-old mystery of his missing great-niece. He gets to know a troubled young computer hacker, Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), and together they discover a long list of disturbing and shocking revelations involving the Vanger family.

Hollywood akan membuat versi baru filem "The Girl With The Dragon Tatto" yang merupakan filem Sweden pada tahun 2009 dimana ia merupakan filem pertama yang berasaskan siri-siri buku "The Millennium Trilogy" oleh mendiang Stieg Lar yang merupakan seorang penulis dan juga seorang wartawan. Cerita yang mengisahkan pembunuhan bersiri dan penipuan korporat, pemalsuan kewangan antarabangsa serta kejahilan orang yang mempunyai kuasa pada masa lampau. Dalam filem itu, Mikael Blomkvist ( Craig Daniel) ialah seorang penulis yang telah kalah dalam satu kes fitnah terhadap seorang usahawan Sweden yang terlibat dalam rasuah, telah dijatuhkan hukuman penjara. Blomkvist yang diupah oleh Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer) untuk menyelesaikan misteri kehilangan cucu sedaranya 40 tahun lalu. Dia kemudiannya dibantu oleh seorang pemuda bermasalah yang mahir dalam menggodam komputer. Mereka telah menemui satu senarai serta pendedahan yang mengejutkan yang melibatkan keluarga Vanger.
