Lady Maiko (JFF Plus)

Haruko, born and raised in Kagoshima Prefecture, moves to an entertainment district of Kyoto, where she hopes to become a maiko, or apprentice geisha. However, Chiharu, the Madam of the Bansuraku Teahouse, refuses to go against tradition and allow a nobody to join her esteemed establishment. It is only when a client of the house intervenes that Haruko gets her chance. She struggles to learn the dialect, songs and dances of Kyoto so she can prove her worth as a maiko.
