Malaysian Horror Film to Feature Mix of Asian Cast and Crew

5 Jul - Filming a movie during the Hungry Ghost Festival might not be a good idea but there are some who doesn't believe in such superstitions. Acclaimed Hong Kong producer Sam Wong even hoped that the festivities would help promote his latest horror flick "Possessed".

"It is only a mere coincidence that the movie is being filmed during the Hungry Ghost Festival," said Wong, who also worked on feature films like "Rush Hour", "The Accidental Spy", "Who Am I?" and "Shanghai Noon". "Hopefully, it can bring good luck to the cast and crew on the set and make the film a successful one."

Wong announced today that the film will begin shooting early next month and will comprise a host of leading and acclaimed filmmakers and stars from Asia including South Korea's Harisu, Malaysian supermodel Amber Chia as well as model actors Alan Yun and Steve Yap.

"We expect to complete shooting in approximately one month, mainly in Kuching," he said of the film budgeted at RM1.5 million. "We hope to deliver something different from any horror film that is out in the market – with a twist at the end of the movie."

Bjarne Wong will be directing the movie under the advice of acclaimed filmmaker Stanley Tong. Wong made his directorial debut last year with "The Legend of the Red Curse."

Besides the four leading stars, the movie also features appearances from a number of well-known Malaysian artistes including Peng Peng, Sharifah Amani, Jay Jay, Sean Lee, Angel Yeoh and Chef Wan Ismail. The movie is set to be released in Malaysia and China either at the end of this year or early next year but negotiations are being carried out to release the film in Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore.

"Possessed" possesses cinemas nationwide end of this year or early 2007.
