24 Mar – The premiere of romantic comedy "27 Dresses" was a graceful affair attended by models, artistes, and the movers and shakers of the film industry. But the glittering event, held at GSC Signature at The Gardens, Mid Valley on 21 March, was more than just another premiere. An exclusive fashion show was held to showcase collections from The Gardens' 2201 Fashion Avenue boutique by Malaysian designers, organised by Nivea. Amber Chia, Malaysian's own supermodel, was the highlight of the catwalk, donning several dresses including the piece de resistance – the "27 Dresses" dress.
Chia, who's never worn a single bridesmaid dress in her life, said she has never been invited to become a bridesmaid. "This is my first time (wearing a bridesmaid dress). My friends never want me to be their bridesmaid because they said I'd take the attention away from them," she laughed. "So this is a good opportunity for me." In the film, Katherine Heigl plays Jane, the perennial bridesmaid who has a collection of 27 bridesmaid dresses in her closet to date, but no wedding dress of her own. In lieu with the film, 27 dresses were paraded down the catwalk, which was decorated in blue and lined with displays of Nivea's latest whitening-repair products. Guests were later ushered to the premiere screening of the romantic comedy, which also stars Malin Akerman, Ed Burns and James Marsden.
