3 Nov – The European Union Film Festival (EUFF) is back again this year as the 12th edition will be making its way to GSC International Screens in Klang Valley: GSC Mid Valley, GSC 1 Utama and GSC Pavilion KL from 10 to 20 November, and 24 to 30 November at GSC Gurney Plaza.
This time around, the festival will feature 23 acclaimed and award-winning films from 17 European Union states. Highlights of the festival include, "Sophie Scholl" (Germany), a movie about a bunch of young Germans who rebel against the Nazi movement and the devastating war waged by Hitler. The 2005 movie won multiple awards and accolades in Europe and it was also nominated for an Oscar for the Best Foreign Film category. Other notable films that will be screened during the festival are "Venice" (Poland), "Tandoori Love" (Switzerland) and "Wedding in Bessarabia" (Romania). The British Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the British Council will also be presenting classic black and white Charles Dickens films "Oliver Twist" (1922) and "Great Expectations" (1946) for the first time on the big screen. Children are not to be left out as well, as the festival is set on showing two films for the young moviegoers that include "Kooky" (Czech Republic) and "Niko & The Way To The Stars" (Finland). Tickets for all the EUFF movies will be priced at RM5 each, expect tickets for the Spanish movie "Cell 211", which will be given out for free, courtesy of the Embassy of Spain and can be redeemed on the same day as the screening date after the redemption coupon is printed out from GSC's website. Tickets for other EUFF movies can be purchased at the cinema's ticketing counter, online, or through GSC's Mobile App (iPhone).
