9 Feb – Local film production company, Metrowealth Pictures Sdn Bhd (MIG) has been chosen by the world's leading computer company, Apple Inc., as the sole distributor of Malay films internationally through iTunes. Taken from the Straits Times, Chief Executive Officer of MIG, David Teo was reported to have reached an agreement to work with Apple, and the collaboration was already signed last year by both their companies. "With this new collaborative project, I chose to highlight MIG's earlier movies to be downloaded into the application, but this opportunity is also open to other Malay films." He also stated that three of MIGs films, "8 Jam", "Aku Terima Nikahnya" and "Sumpahan Kum Kum" will be available for download on iTunes soon. "It is time to demonstrate that the Malay film industry is growing. Last year, Malaysia was also recognized as the number one film industry on Southeast Asia, because of the 108 movies we had issued." "It is not easy to top film distributors in neighbouring countries like Thailand and Indonesia," said David Teo.
