18 May – Director Jon Favreau, who recently appeared in "Iron Man 3" as Happy Hogan, will be taking a break from the Marvel Universe to film an indie comedy film, "Chef". According to Screenrant, Favreau will be taking down double duty as the film's director and leading star. "Chef" centres on Carl Casper, a chef who has been fired from his job, leading him to start up his own food truck in order to rediscover his passion for culinary arts and reconnect with the family he once left behind. Favreau's "Iron Man 2" co-star, Scarlett Johansson is on board as his "sometimes love interest", Molly, a restaurant manager. There is still no word yet on what character will Robert Downey Jr. be playing, but the actor is definitely joining the cast line-up, which makes "Chef" the third time Favreau is directing Robert in a film.
There is also the possibility that Favreau's film may see a title change, as director John Wells is also looking to make a film titled "Chef", starring Bradley Cooper. The latter film sees a Parisian chef whose career has been ruined by substance abuse issues trying to get back on his feet and build a three Michelin stars restaurant. Cooper has been developing "Chef" as a starring vehicle for some time, but it is only recently that the director found a director since "Place Beyond The Pines" director Derek Cianfrance passed on the opportunity.
