"Ghost in the Shell" wants Scarlett Johansson

ScarJo is up for the lead role in the live-action adaptation of "Ghost in the Shell".

18 Oct – Having shown her acting prowess through numerous movies, the most recent one being Luc Besson's wildly successful "Lucy", Scarlett Johansson is about to be the leading lady in yet another action flick.

The actress has been offered USD10 million to star in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Japanese manga, "Ghost in the Shell", Anime News Network reports.

"Ghost in the Shell" is a cyberpunk manga by Masamune Shirow. It tells about life in a possible future, where humans possess cyber-brains, due to the high advancement of technology. This is not the first time the manga is adapted into a movie but it will mark the first time for it to be adapted into an American live-action film.

Previously it was reported by Deadline that Dreamworks offered the role to "The Wolf of Wall Street" actress Margot Robbie. When the offer fell through, all eyes are now on the "Avengers" actress instead. Robbie is currently reported to be in talks for Warner Bros.' "Suicide Squad".

Scarlett Johansson can be seen on the silver screen next in 2015's "Avengers: Age of Ultron".
