27 Nov – Malaysia's largest studio facility, Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios (PIMS), will soon be the shooting location for a big budget Hollywood movie. The newly opened studio was previously reported to have struck a deal for the filming of United States' Netflix series, "Marco Polo". Even though the completed drama series is yet to be screened, another big opportunity has now come knocking on Pinewood's door reports The Star. Chief executive officer of Imola Media Limited, Tony Meng, said that the filming for "Alien City" will begin next year at PIMS. The Chinese media and entertainment company will be involved in the movie's production, which boasts a minimum budget of RM50 million. Meng revealed that the movie is "about a story that happened in Southeast Asian countries" and PIMS was their "first choice for the shooting". PIMS was officially launched by the ruler of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, earlier in June this year. It has since signed a few filming deals including the "Marco Polo" production as well as a five-year agreement with Astro Productions. (Photo source: gdparchitects.com)
