Malaysia to host South Indian International Movie Awards

18 Aug – Malaysia Major Events has announced that the South Indian International Movie Awards will be hosted and held in Malaysia on 12 to 13 September, 2014 at Stadium Negara, Kuala Lumpur.

The South Indian International Movie Awards also known as the SIIMA Awards is an esteemed award ceremony that presents the most artistic and technical achievements of the South Indian film industry.

According to My Tamil Channel, General Manager of Malaysia Major Events, Tony Nagamaiah said that the event will be a wonderful opportunity for Malaysia to strengthen its bond and connection with the South Indian film industry.

"We have a good relationship with the South Indian film industry and we look forward to be part of its continued growth. Hosting SIIMA is testament to Malaysia as being a preferred destination for top-class events and also gives us the opportunity to increase global exposure on the unique experiences Malaysia has to offer."

He also added, "This event will give fans a great opportunity to experience the South Indian cinema industry's excitement, glamour and abundance. We believe this event will attract fans from around the region and contribute more than RM25 million in estimated tourist expenditure."

Malaysia will be the first country in the Southeast Asia region to host the prestigious ceremony. Previously, SIIMA was held in the Middle East; Dubai in 2012 and Sharjah in 2013.

The event will be attended by over a hundred Indian movie stars including Tamanna, Anirudh, Devi Sri Prasad, Shriya Saran, Shiv Rajkumar, Lakshmi Menon, Nivin Pauly, Regina, Rakul Preet and many more.
