4 Nov – If you ever wondered how a tragic movie like "Titanic" can be turned into a theme park attraction, then movie studio 20th Century Fox has the answer for you. "We are working on creating an immersive experience that includes motion theatre simulators and will allow you to experience what it was like to be on the Titanic in an exciting way," says Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products. The attraction will be part of the upcoming theme park, 20th Century Fox World in Dubai, according to Variety, and other attractions will be based on movies such as "Planets of the Apes", "Night at the Museum", "Ice Age", "Rio" and more. The recently announced licensing partnership between 20th Century Fox and Dubai's Al Ahli Holding Group will give the theme park and resort hotel Fox branding, though Fox will not own a stake in either. Godsick, however, says that, "This will build a tremendous amount of fan engagement with these brands. There are strong merchandising opportunities and it will allow us to connect with our audiences on an ongoing basis."
The theme park is set to include a series of themed lands, restaurants, stores and amusement park attractions. Up to three additional resorts, also with Fox branding, are planned to be built in territories outside of Dubai. As Fox also handles television content, the theme park and resorts will also feature attractions based on TV shows including "The Simpsons" and "Sons of Anarchy". Apart from the Fox theme park, Dubai is also getting a Lionsgate theme park in 2016. As was previously reported earlier this year, Lionsgate is building a theme park based on the popular "The Hunger Games" movie franchise. Fans will get to wander through a recreation of District 12 and be "greeted by actors dressed as District 12's downtrodden inhabitants", The Guardian reports. 20th Century Fox World, Dubai is expected to open in 2018, a year after the first Fox-branded theme park – located at Resorts World Genting in Malaysia – is set to open.
