Movie theme park in Genting


Genting Malaysia Berhad is investing RM400 million to build a 20th Century Fox movie theme park set to open it's doors by 2016.

27 Jul - Genting Malaysia Berhad is partnering up with major American film studio 20th Century Fox to build a theme park. The park will include 25 movie-based rides and attractions, and will replace the old theme park at Resorts World Genting, Genting Highlands.

According to Genting Malaysia Berhad chairman Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, he said that the partnership with 20th Century Fox would make Resorts World Genting one of the world's top holiday destinations.

The theme park will also be part of a RM3 billion Resorts World Genting refurbishment programme which include the construction of an additional 1,300 hotel rooms adjoining the First World Hotel.


"X-Men: First Class" is only one of the many different films from 20th Century Fox.

"This theme park marks the launch of our global location based entertainment strategy," remarked Consumer Products President of 20th Century Fox Jeffrey Godsick.

While Resorts World Genting is already receiving about 20.5 million visitors annually, and the number is expected to rise in 2016 when the new theme park has been built. The rides and attractions will be based on movies like "Ice Age", "Life of Pi", "Alien", "Predator" and even "Night At The Museum" amongst others!

"I look forward to the collaboration," said 20th Century Fox Films Malaysia's Senior Marketing Manager Hon Mei Moo, "The theme park will be a similar concept to Universal Studio's in Singapore."

As part of the Genting Berhad group of companies, Resorts World Inc Pte Ltd also manages another movie theme park in Singapore; Universal Studios Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa.
Though the 20th Century Fox movie theme park aims to be launched in the year 2016, the theme park is aiming to complete by 2015.
