9 Apr – A new theme park is set to open in Perak by early next year, and it is expected to draw a crowd with its movie-centric attractions.

"Mr. Peabody and Sherman", "The Croods", "Megamind" and "Casper the Friendly Ghost" are among more than 40 rides available at the movie theme park, featured in Malaysia's first DreamWorks Animation dedicated zone.

Local animation "Boboiboy" will also be part of the upcoming movie theme park's attractions, according to BERNAMA, along with other thrilling activities such as Malaysia's tallest drop tower, a live car stunt show and many more.

Some of the rides will be based on these movies.

RSG MAPS chairman Ramelle Ramli said phase one of the RM450 million animation theme park, which is mainly the theme park itself, is about 40-45% completed. He added, "The second phase comprises hotels, serviced apartments and lifestyle retail and dining concept. Phase three would be a water park that will excite the visitors."

Located at Meru Raya, Perak, Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) is expected to open its doors to the public in the first quarter of 2016.
