Noomi Rapace plays Winehouse next

7 Nov – After the 2015 biopic "Amy", which the late singer's family claims as "misleading", a second biographical movie on Amy Winehouse is now reportedly in the making.

Lotus Entertainment wants "Child 44" actress, Noomi Rapace, to star as Winehouse, Deadline reports. Producers are still in negotiations with Mitch, the late singer's father who now controls her estate.

Kirsten Sheridan, who was nominated for an Academy Award along with sister Naomi and father Jim for 2002's "In America", will be directing Rapace from the director's own script.

Rapace is well-known for her portrayal as Lisbeth Salander in the 2009 Swedish movies series – based on Stieg Larsson's books of the same name, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", "The Girl Who Played with Fire", and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest".

This will be the second biopic on Winehouse, following the British documentary released this year, which managed to gross USD22 million against its USD3.44 million budget.

The Grammy-winning jazz singer passed away at age 27 back in 2011, after battling alcohol and drug abuse.

Rapace will be busy next with "Prometheus" sequel, "Alien: Paradise Lost". She is reprising her role as archaeologist Elizabeth in the 2017 movie, to be filmed in Australia.
