15 Dec – The "Suicide Squad" combo of director David Ayer and Hollywood A-lister, Margot Robbie is set to materialise again for the film adaptation of DC Comics' "Gotham City Sirens". This is according to the Hollywood Report which said that "Margot Robbie will be re-teaming with her "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer for another DC Comics adaptation, "Gotham City Sirens". But unlike "Suicide Squad" where Ayer penned the script himself, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who penned scripts for the "Tomb Raider" remake and "Sherlock Holmes 3", will write the screenplay. The comic book series focuses on popular villainesses from the crime ridden city of Gotham with three female villains, Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Poison Ivy in the lead. So far, only "The Wolf of Wall Street" star has been confirmed for the film leaving fans guessing as to who will be cast for the other roles and whether or not Catwoman and Poison Ivy would even appear in the movie. The report also claimed that talks are ongoing for a "Suicide Squad" sequel and also a solo spin-off for rogue assassin, Deadshot, played by Will Smith. Nonetheless, "Gotham City Sirens" will be the first to hit the screens with the production being fast tracked. Known as Dr Harleen Quinzel, Harley Quinn is a former Arkham Asylum psychiatrist who ends up falling in love with her patient, the Joker. She is eventually driven mad by the Joker and he turns her into his twisted sidekick. Margot Robbie's portrayal of the devilish character was an instant hit receiving rave reviews from both the audience and the critics. The release date for the movie is yet to be announced.
