"Justice League: Part One" to begin filming in April

"Justice League" will feature a star-studded cast of superheroes.

23 Feb – Zack Snyder has confirmed that the production of the first part of "Justice League" will begin on April 11, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

The first part of the two-part film will shoot at Warner Bros. Leavesden studios in England, as well as several other locations around London and Iceland, while the second instalment will shoot separately and is already scheduled for a 2019 release.

Snyder has become very involved with DC after directing "Man of Steel" in 2013 and has shaped the DC cinematic universe following the upcoming release of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" on March 25.

"It was a little bit of an 'about time' moment, and I don't blame [the studio] for feeling that way, because it's a long time coming," he said.

"But I do feel like it's a little bit of a creative hurdle. It seems like an easy thing to do at first glance, the idea that, 'Oh, we just get the rest of the superheroes in there.' But you have to [establish] a world where they can exist." "The studio really wants us to try and pace it up, as far as -now we have an idea where we're going," Snyder comments on the three year gap between "Man of Steel" and "Dawn of Justice" as the creative teams had to map out the many interlocking stories.

In "Dawn of Justice", besides Batman taking on Superman, the movie also features other DC characters such as The Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Cyborg, but the cameos will only lay the groundwork for the broader universe in "Justice League" that is set for a November 2017 release.

Supporting characters, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and The Flash, will be getting their own standalone films that will have the same cinematic universe as all the other DC superhero films and is slated to release in 2017 and 2018.
