Live-action Snow White from sister's point-of-view

Snow White to turn live-action but with a twist.

2 Apr – Everyone's familiar with the story of Snow White, or at least the Disney version of it. The classic movie is getting a live-action treatment next, only with a little twist to it.

The live-action adaptation of "Snow White" will be told from the titular princess' estranged sister Rose Red's point-of-view, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Though Rose Red originally appears in Grimm's fairy tales in an adventure unrelated to the animated 1937 Disney classic, scriptwriters Justin Merz and Evan Daugherty (2012's "Snow White and the Huntsman", 2014's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" and "Divergent") have woven her tale into the classic movie's storyline.

In the upcoming adaptation, Rose Red, along with Grumpy and the other dwarves, will be looking for a way to break the curse and reawaken Snow White after she bites into the poison apple that causes her to fall into her Sleeping Death.

The movie will somewhat be in the same vein as "Maleficent" ("Sleeping Beauty" told from the villain's point-of-view) and "Frozen" (sisterly bond), two of Disney's bigger successes in recent years, which means this just might be a recipe for yet another success in the studio's book.

The movie will be produced by Tripp Vinson via his Vinson Films banner. No further details have been released in regards to the casting.

"Rose Red" is just one of the many live-action movies Disney is coming up with over the years. Others include "The Jungle Book", "Beauty and the Beast", "Aladdin" and "Prince Charming", the latter two which are also produced by Vinson.
