KL to hold an Independent Film Festival this month


Kuala Lumpur Independent Film Festival will make its debut this September.

5 Sep – Independent filmmakers now have a new avenue to showcase their products.

The Kuala Lumpur Independent Film Festival will be making its debut this September right in the capital of Malaysia, according to its official website.

The event, which holds a film competition under the theme "Creation", is made with the intention of helping aspiring filmmakers gain the credibility and publicity that they deserve.

Some of the awards to be won from the film festival are:

- Best Screenplay
- Best Editing
- Best Production Design
- Special Jury Award
- Best Non-Feature Film
- Best Promotional Film
- Best Biographical Film
- Best Actor Award
- Best Director Award
- Student Film Prize

The festival will also feature family-friendly movies, modern adaption of classics, and films about the Asian region, alongside a round-table discussion allowing participants to network with sales agents, distributors and producers.

The Kuala Lumpur Independent Film Festival will be held on 23 September at Setapak Central Mall.
