8 Mar – Malaysian martial arts star, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Michelle Yeoh, is the next name to be confirmed as part of the all-Asian cast of "Crazy Rich Asians". Yeoh will be joining American actress Constance Wu (TV series "Fresh Off the Boat") in the big screen adaptation of Kevin Kwan's New York Times best-selling novel of the same name, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Yeoh will be playing Eleanor Young, the mother to Wu's character's boyfriend, who disapproves of her. Wu stars as Rachel Chu, who travels to Singapore to attend her boyfriend's best friend's wedding, only to discover that her boyfriend comes from an impossibly rich family. She faces a difficult situation not only because of his disapproving mother but also because of the women who are jealous of her and want to bring her down. To be directed by Jon M. Chu ("Now You See Me 2", "Jem and the Holograms", "Step Up: All In"), this is the first Hollywood movie to feature a cast made up of Asian actors since the 1993 adaptation of "The Joy Luck Club", also from a book of the same name. Filming is expected to begin in Singapore this April, though no release date for the movie has been set at the moment.
