23 Oct – Action film "Tombiruo: Penunggu Rimba" is on a winning streak at the cinemas it seems, as it has successfully grossed over RM5 million since its nationwide opening on 12 October. "I thank God for the movie's stellar performance and we from the production company are nothing but grateful for the support from our Malaysian viewers. "We are hoping that the support will continue to last even in the face of upcoming Hollywood films such as "Thor: Ragnarok"," Head of Astro Shaw, Najwa Abu Bakar said to Utusan Online. Najwa added that she hopes the public will give their support to local movies, even more so for those that received rave reviews on social media sites. Stating that there are numerous factors contributing to the viewers' attraction to the movie, Najwa also said that the main reason is it being an adaptation of the famous novel by Ramlee Awang Murshid. Other factors such as the excellent production quality that has been instilled to give variations from other local films as well as the great performance by the cast are also not forgotten. "Tombiruo: Penunggu Rimba" revolves around Ejim, also known as Tombiruo, who possesses supernatural power and an unhuman-like face, as he plays out a vendetta towards those involved in the incident which caused the death of his adopted father. A strong ensemble cast is featured in the movie, which includes Zul Ariffin, Farid Kamil, Faizal Hussein, Nabila Huda, Dato' M. Nasir, Hasnul Rahmat, and Dynas Mokhtar.
