2 Jul – It's time for Jim Carrey to unmask his villainous side, that is if he agrees to play Sonic's arch-nemesis in the upcoming "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie. Carrey is currently in talks with Sony Pictures to play the villain Robotnik in the live-action/CGI adaptation of the SEGA game, Deadline is reporting. The role of Robotnik, also known as Dr. Eggman, will be quite prominent in the movie seeing that the storyline basically revolves around Sonic trying to stop Robotnik's evil plans.
If Carrey accepts the deal, he will be joining James Marsden ("Once Upon a Time in Hollywood") and Tika Sumpter ("Ride Along") who are set to play the male and female leads. The movie will be helmed by Jeff Fowler in his directorial debut, from a script by Pat Casey and Josh Miller. "Sonic the Hedgehog" is currently slated for a November 2019 release.
