Will Venom be the villain for MCU's "Spider-Man 3"?

Venom won't quite make it a thumbs-up moment for you Spidey, but okay.

28 May – When the Tom Hardy-starring "Venom" was released last year, Sony producer Amy Pascal mentioned that the movie was adjunct to Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige denied that but it looks like Venom might still find its way into MCU's "Spider-Man" movies. Or at least one of them, which is the yet-to-be-made "Spider-Man 3".

Roger Wardell posted on Twitter: "There are no plans to add Deadpool in an MCU Spider-Man 3, but Sony desperately wants Tom Hardy's Venom in this movie. Deadpool had his own movies but never showed up in the main X-Men films, it will be the same for the MCU."

This little tidbit means that there is hope yet for Venom and Spider-Man fans to see the characters played by Hardy and Tom Holland, respectively, battle it out on the big screen.

Since the second "Spider-Man" movie, "Spider-Man: Far from Home", has yet to open in cinemas, understandably there are no info yet on the third movie. So, there is still no confirmation to this rumour.

However, it should be noted that Wardell's tweets rarely miss the mark. Most recently, he spoiled Thor's changed appearance and Thanos' (first) demise in "Avengers: Endgame". Of course, fans merely thought he was joking, that is until the movie came out and his tweets turned out to be true.

Sorry, Deadpool, you're not joining Spidey and Venom.

Now why did Wardell's Spider-Man/Venom tweet also contain mentions of Deadpool? He could be responding to the Marvel leak article by UK's The Daily Express, posted about two hours before his tweet. The article reported that Deadpool could be incorporated into the MCU as the character is now a Disney property following its acquisition of Fox.

Fans will have to just sit tight and enjoy the upcoming respective Spider-Man and Venom movies while this rumour either gets dispelled or confirmed later on.

First up is, of course, the aforementioned "Spider-Man: Far from Home", continuing the story of 2017's "Spider-Man: Homecoming" with Holland back as the titular web-slinging superhero. Hardy's "Venom" sequel has no title for now but it does already have a writer penning the script.
