Zarina Anjoulie demands public apologies from Emelda Rose, Amyza Aznan

Zarina Anjoulie wants Emelda Rose and Amyza Aznan to publicly apologise to her.

15 Apr – Last week, it was revealed that actress Zarina Anjoulie Lavocah has hired a PR firm to handle crisis response after receiving legal threats. This week, she has started taking action by serving demand letters to those who have been defaming her online.

Two separate demand letters were sent today to actresses Emelda Rose and Amyza Aznan through her legal firm, NHA Advocates and Solicitors.

Zarina is seeking a public apology and RM4 million settlement, RM3 million from Amyza Aznan and RM1 million from Emelda Rose, for "publicising countless defamatory postings and comments about her on Instagram and Telegram".

"Emelda Rose and Amyza Aznan made the wrongful postings and comments, knowing it were false and to intentionally harm my client, Zarina Ajoulie Lavocah," said Nurul Hafidzah, Senior Partner of the firm who is leading the team with Zeti Hassan, said in a press statement.

"The statements, postings and comments were not merely opinions or insults but were statements of facts. The two individuals published false and defamatory accusations about my client."

Nurul Hafidzah added that necessary legal actions will be taken if the actresses do not respond to the demand letters within seven days.

Saying that she was "wrongly portrayed as a bad and immoral person to the public and was traumatised by this incident", Zarina is seeking for compensation due to the stress and public hatred against her, as well as her ruined reputation, caused by their actions.

It is also stated in the press statement: "Emelda Rose, and Amyza Aznan lacked any factual support when they repeatedly accused her and published the postings and comments referring to her as someone who incites public hatred against them, despite multiple body shaming and name calling comments. This orchestrated character assassination campaign against her is malicious, irresponsible and manifestly dangerous to her reputation."

The controversy sparked recently after Zarina questioned the intention of a few local artistes asking for government aid during the Movement Control Order (MCO) and supposedly representing veteran artistes and crew members in asking for the aid as well.
