11 May – After much delay, it was reported that Aamir Khan is now restarting production on his upcoming movie, "Laal Singh Chaddha". A source recently revealed that the Bollywood star has handpicked four people to form a team to finalise a location for the shoot, and that he and the team have been on a search in Ladakh for a while now. "The possibility of creating a set in Mumbai was out of the question as the actor was certain that the war sequences will look grand only when filmed in real locations," said the source. "After Aamir zeroes in on the locations, the shoot will be conducted with minimal crew in the coming months."
The upcoming movie is said to be a Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' award-winning movie, "Forrest Gump". It will co-star Khan's "3 Idiots" lead actress Kareena Kapoor, as well as Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh, with special appearances from Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. It is noted that Aamir had bought the remake rights of the 1994 movie back in 2018, with his "Secret Superstar" director Advait Chandan to helm the remake. It had been filming in more than 100 Indian locations since 2019, but had to halt production following the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now scheduled for Christmas 2021 release.
