3 Mar – Good news to all you movie lovers! After months of movie theatres and other recreational facilities shutting down due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, it has been revealed that cinemas will be opened again soon. The news was confirmed by the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) in its official statement released Tuesday 2 March, which stated that both filming activities and cinema operations are now allowed in areas where Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) and Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) are currently being imposed - beginning 5 March. Nonetheless, these operations will still have to abide by the guidelines set by the National Security Council (MKN) including the implementations of health screenings, social distancing, and disinfection.
Among those in celebration of this good news include cinema chains TGV and GSC, the latter which posted online, "The moment we've been waiting for... we will be reopening this FRIDAY!! Stay tuned as we reveal our opening locations and confirmed movie line-ups!" Among the highly-anticipated movies that will be coming soon include the blockbuster "Godzilla Vs. Kong", which will be released on 25 March and "The Boss Baby: Family Business", which will be released on the same day. Others include "A Quiet Place Part II" (22 April), "Black Widow" (6 May), "Fast & Furious 9: The Fast Saga" (27 May), and the Disney live-action film, "Cruella" (27 May).
