2 Mar – Jessica Alexander was recently announced as the new addition to Disney's upcoming live-action remake of "The Little Mermaid". The actress, who is known for Disney Channel original series "Penny on M.A.R.S" and the BBC/Netflix series, "Get Even", will be joining the likes of Halle Bailey, Javier Bardem, and Melissa McCarthy in the upcoming movie.
No news as to what character the 21 year-old will play, seeing that the only known young female character of Ariel has already been taken by Halle Bailey. In a previous report, it was revealed that Javier Bardem will be playing the role of King Triton, while Melissa McCarthy will play the evil sea witch Ursula. The movie also include an all-star voice cast for the talking/singing animals including "The Room" star Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, "Crazy Rich Asians" actress Awkwafina as Scuttle, and Broadway star Daveed Diggs as Sebastian. The upcoming movie is helmed by Gary Marshall with music by 1989's "The Little Mermaid" original composer Alan Menken and Broadway legend Lin-Manuel Miranda - the latter who previously scored "Moana".
