3 Apr – "The Aristocats" is not the only live-action Disney project currently in the works this year, as the studio is also developing the same for its 2002 animated feature, "Lilo & Stitch". The upcoming project, which will be helmed by Dean Fleischer Camp of "Marcel the Shell With Shoes On" fame, has also found the right girl to play the titular character of Lilo in newcomer Maia Kealoha. The upcoming project is intended for a major release on Disney+.
The original animated movie tells the story of the friendship between a lonely Hawaiian girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien creature Stitch, the latter originally a weapon of destruction called Experiment 626. Prior to Kealoha, it was revealed that Zach Galifianakis is joining the project. No news as to when the remake will be released.
