19 Jul – It looks like "Lilo & Stitch" will finally be getting its live-action remake, following news that the project has now found its director. As reported on THR, Dean Fleischer Camp, the filmmaker behind the indie film, "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On" has been hired by Disney to helm the movie, while Chris Kekaniokalani Bright is in final negotiations to pen the script. It was also revealed that the film, which was first announced in 2018, will be a hybrid movie, mixing live-action and CG.
The original 2002 animated feature tells the story of a bond between a lonely Hawaiian girl Lilo and an extraterrestrial koala-like creature named Stitch, originally engineered to cause chaos and destruction. The film, which made USD 273.1 million at the box office, spawned three TV series, including the sequel series, "Lilo & Stitch: The Series".
