The Incredibles are back in action in "Incredibles 2"!

The beloved Parr family - Bob a.k.a. Mr Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson), Helen a.k.a. Elastigirl (Holly Hunter), Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dash (Huck Milner replacing original actor Spencer Fox from the original) and Jack-Jack (Eli Fucile) – are back 14 years since "The Incredibles" made its debut in 2004!

Not only has the original won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature, it was largely considered as one of the best superhero - animated or not - movies ever made in recent memory.

With the long-awaited sequel finally on our screens, it's true that miracles do happen! So, without further ado, here are six animated movies we really wish to also see sequels for someday in the near future!

The titular Iron Giant (voiced by Vin Diesel) in "The Iron Giant".

Long before Brad Bird made it big by collaborating with Pixar with movies like "The Incredibles" and "Ratatouille", he made his feature-length debut via "The Iron Giant" back in 1999. Although the 1950s-set sci-fi animation was well-received by critics, the movie failed to make money at the box office. Since then, "The Iron Giant" has gone on to become a cult favourite over the years, and this year alone, the titular robot made a memorable cameo appearance in Steven Spielberg's nostalgia-heavy "Ready Player One". It would be timely if "The Iron Giant" gets a sequel. Financial failure aside, this is one of those animated features that truly deserves a second chance.

Remy the rat in "Ratatouille" (2007).

Sure, it's all a happy ending at the end of "Ratatouille", however this charming but surprisingly underrated Pixar entry about Remy the rat (voiced by Patton Oswalt) who has a passion for cooking could go on with another gastronomic adventure. Perhaps Remy is going places, like travelling around the world with his human companion for a cooking competition or so?

It's trouble at Springfield as usual in "The Simpsons Movie".

The last thing Homer Simpson (voiced by Dan Castellaneta) did in the iconic animated series' feature-length debut was saving the world Springfield, following the town being quarantined within a giant dome by the Environmental Protection Agency. That was 11 years ago in 2007 and now, "The Simpsons" series itself has reached a record-breaking 30th season. Although many fans have claimed that "The Simpsons" have been long losing its mojo, creator Matt Groening could at least go out on a possible high note one last time with a feature-length sequel. A year ago, "The Simpsons Movie" director David Silverman once revealed that he would "love for there to be another one", but it's all in talks for now. All we can do at the moment is keep our fingers crossed and hope we get to see a long-overdue "The Simpsons Movie" sequel.

The beloved WALL-E robot in "Wall-E".

There are many things worth praising in Pixar's "Wall-E", but this writer was particularly impressed with the movie's first 40 minutes, which pays a wonderful homage to the dialogue-free silent-film era. A sequel could have worked if they chose to explore further about the human beings living with WALL-E in the once-abandoned but now-restored Earth, as well as its overall environment. Too bad in 2016 Pixar president Jim Morris had told Entertainment Weekly that the studio is not planning to revisit "Wall-E" for a potential sequel. As for now, only time can tell if we ever get to see the beloved WALL-E robot again in the future.

Carl (Ed Asner) and Russell (Jordan Nagai) in "Up".

Your heart must be made out of solid rock if you are not moved by the heartbreaking 10-minute opening sequence chronicling the bittersweet life of Carl and Ellie. "Up" is no doubt one of the finest animated movies ever made by Pixar and is well-deserved to win the coveted Oscar for Best Animated Feature. The main story, which centres on the adventures of the old man Carl (voiced by Ed Asner) and the chubby boy scout Russell (Jordan Nagai), may have concluded the movie well enough, but it would be nice if the filmmakers (Pete Docter and Bob Peterson) gave us another sequel. For instance, they can explore Russell growing up as an adult and his twilight years.

Mr. Peabody (Ty Burrell) and Sherman (Max Charles) in "Mr. Peabody & Sherman".

Well, the first feature-length of "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" back in 2014 wasn't exactly mind-blowing in terms of its worldwide box-office result, but this time-travelling adventure about the gifted dog Mr. Peabody (voiced by Ty Burrell) and his adopted young son, Sherman (Max Charles) could actually do more than just one movie. Besides, their main theme is time travel, so basically the possibilities for a sequel (or more) is endless.
