3 Sep – An OSRAM energy-saving light bulb as a door gift at Maya Karin's wedding reception may sound a little bit unconventional - but it's for real! The do, which was held recently (29 Aug) at the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, surprised guests with a simple yet symbolic black-and-white themed ceremony. Maya - recently hailed as Best Actress at the recent Malaysian Film Festival 2008 in Putrajaya – was seen in a flowing white lace gown while hubby Steven Muhammad Ali Abdullah donned a black baju melayu. They arrived at the reception 9 pm.
As a WWF (World Wildlife Fund) activist, the bulb goes beyond gimmickry but also represents Maya's passion for environmental conservation. Attached also was a note with tips on how to preserve nature! When asked, Steve enthused that being an environment lover himself, he is proud of Maya's strong interest in environmental efforts.
Among guests celebrities in attendance were director Shuhaimi Baba, Kavita Sidhu, Jeslina Hashim, Farid Kamil, David Teo and wife. The lovely couple and guests were then entertained with a performance by Maya's extended family members, who came all the way from Penang and Indonesia to celebrate the joyous event.
