Selling over 10,000 tickets on the first day of advance ticket sales in Malaysia, "Michael Jackson's This Is It" tracked in a total admission of RM26,000 on opening night, according to distributor Sony Pictures Releasing International. Meanwhile in Singapore, it pulled in a cumulative gross of S$648,501 on opening weekend. Tricking audiences with a supposed two-week-only engagement in order to encourage people to rush and see the movie, online reports are circulating that Sony Pictures extended the theatrical run to a few more weeks in the US and on a country-by-country basis elsewhere. On related note, it has been revealed that close friend and Jackson's comeback tour director Kenny Ortega had discussed several movie projects with the late pop legend including a feature-length big screen version of his hit Thriller video, and a film version of Peter Allen's musical "Legs Diamond".
