28 Jun – Staying at the top of the game, "Toy Story 3" managed to rake up more cash in their piggy bank over the weekend (24-27 Jun), out-gunning the debuts of Tom Cruise-Cameron Diaz action flick "Knight & Day" and Herman Yau's Ip Man prequel, "The Legend Is Born: Ip Man".
However, based on Cinema Online's Hot Movie Checks, moviegoers took more interest with "Knight & Day" as it shot up the list on opening day, overtaking "Toy Story 3" and kept its position till over the weekend. "The Karate Kid" remake landed in second, then followed by "The Legend Is Born: Ip Man", "Toy Story 3" and "The A-Team". According to Cathay Cineplexes, "Knight & Day" topped the charts at its cinemas with "Toy Story 3" in second and "The Karate Kid" in third.
In the United States, "Toy Story 3" dominated the box office with ease, while Adam Sandler's newly released comedy "Grown Ups" starring a heft of Sandler cronies Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider unexpectedly outdid "Knight & Day". According to Box Office Mojo, "Knight & Day"'s attendance was below average for a spy movie, and it was Tom Cruise's lowest in a leading role since "Far And Away" in 1992.
