2 Dec – According to film distributor Antenna Entertainments, Tamil star Suriya (a.k.a. Surya a.k.a. Saravanan Sivakumar) and maverick film director Ram Gopal Varma of "Sarkar" fame will not be coming to Malaysia's TGV CapSquare premiere of "Raktha Charithram" today as announced earlier, due to unforeseen circumstances. Mumbaimirror.com reports that Suriya has suffered an accident on the set of an AR Murgadoss film and has seriously injured his back. It is believed that while he recuperates, all preparation for the premiere now seems futile to the producers of the film, who have lost a lot of money that was spent on publicity. The site further cites an unknown source, saying: "Suriya has had a very bad back injury. The accident occurred while Suriya was shooting. Suriya's manager informed Ram Gopal Varma and the producer Sheetal Talwar about the accident and told them that Suriya will not be present at the premiere in Malaysia. "However, all invites had already been sent and Ramu and Suriya were supposed to fly to Malaysia last night." When contacted, Sheetal Talwar was quoted as saying: "Yes, the Malaysian premiere has been cancelled as Suriya is unwell." Suriya has been quoted by the website as saying: "The injury is at the end of the spinal chord and it's very painful. I have even cancelled my shoots for the next two days at least. I was really looking forward to the premiere at Malaysia and meet my fan base there, but this injury this morning spoilt it all." "Raktha Charithram" is a biopic based on the life of Andhra Pradesh factionist political leader Paritala Ravindra who was assassinated in 2005. The film features Vivek Oberoi as Ravindra, and Suriya as Suri. Shatrughan Sinha, Abhimanyu Singh, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sushant Singh, Priyamani and Radhika Apte play other supporting roles. The film was shot simultaneously in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil.
