"Lucy" wins Malaysia and Singapore again!


"Lucy" is ready to defeat anyone who gets in her way!

2 Sep: While the heroes from "Guardians of the Galaxy" still rule the weekend box office in U.S, Scarlett Johansson starrer, "Lucy" has Malaysia and Singapore in the palm of her hands as she once again tops the weekend box office charts of Malaysia and Singapore from 28 to 31 August 2014.

"Guardians of the Galaxy' reign as champions in U.S last weekend with a collection of over USD 22.1 million, while coming in at second place for the second time now is Michael Bay's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" with a weekend gross of USD 15.7 million. Meanwhile, with USD 11.6 million collected over the weekend, the American romantic drama film, "If I Stay" gets into third place in the U.S.


The Turtles still remain in the top three in most territories.
Moving on to Malaysia, Scarlett Johansson managed to captivate the nation during the Merdeka weekend as her film; "Lucy" once again topped the weekend's local box office chart.

Meanwhile, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" got pushed down to third place as the second place was locked down by love by the new Taiwanese romance, "Café Waiting Love" in its opening week.

Similarly, "Lucy" took the top spot in Singapore last weekend. The Pierce Brosnan film, "November Man" made its debut at second place, while the third place went to the film adaptation of the famous manga series, "Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno".

Also opening in Malaysia last week; "Salim", "Irumbu Kuthirai", "Raja Natwarlal", "Double Di Trouble", "The Signal", "Mamak Cupcake", "Gallow Hills", "The Four 3", "Mercenaries", "The Hundred-Foot Journey" and "Temporary Family"

Other new movies that opened in Singapore last week; "Amit Sahni Ki List", "Irumbu Kuthirai", "Salim", "Raja Natwarlal", "The Swimmers", "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For", "Beyond Beauty: Taiwan From Above" and "The Hundred-Foot Journey".
