Man slashed at cinema on Chinese New Year

Photos of the slashed victim at the cinema have emerged on Facebook.

21 Feb – A man was slashed with a Parang by the concession counter of Lotus Five Star (LFS) Cinemas at Shaw Centerpoint, Klang, yesterday, on the second day of Chinese New Year.

Cinema Online had contacted the cinema's manager Mr. Jeyaraj, who said that around 7.30pm yesterday, a fight among two Indonesian groups had started at the karaoke center opposite the cinema.

The sudden commotion then brought some of the men to the cinema by the concession counter, where one man with a Parang had beaten and then slashed another man.

Said Mr. Jeyaraj, no customers or cinema staff were involved with the commotion and the police was called promptly.

It is learnt that the police had arrived around 8.30pm and some of the customers had the unobstructed gruesome view of the unconscious slashed victim who was bleeding profusely at the cinema foyer.

"There were around three customers at the time of the incident, but when the fight ended, they took out their phones and started taking photos and recording." said Mr. Jeyaraj.

He also added that it is unknown to him if the victim had survived the ordeal, but after the victim was taken away by authorities, the police had to cordon off the crime scene with police tape until the forensics team arrived at 10pm.

"There were some customers who continued to come to the cinema to buy tickets, and there were some who got scared and left after looking at the police-taped area which still had a lot of blood on the floor."

"I would say business was slightly affected yesterday due to the commotion, but now things seem to be back to normal," he added.
