8 Jun – The 2015 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards held its grand finale at Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil yesterday. Hosted by actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, the awards show was full of glitz and glamour as some of the biggest names in Bollywood gathered at the grand event. Some were present not only to receive awards but also to deliver spectacular performances. Comedy drama "Queen" bagged the Best Picture award, but is tied for the most number of awards won with crime drama "Haider" as the latter also managed to win three accolades. The lead actors for the films, Kangana Ranaut for "Queen" and Shahid Kapoor for "Haider", won Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively.
Meanwhile, "Piku" actress Deepika Padukone was awarded with IIFA Woman of the Year. "This one is for the millions of women who inspire me every day," said the actress as quoted in the official IIFA press release. The award for Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema was presented to filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who received it and said, "So many emotions I am going through, so many memories. That is why you fall, then rise, then rise again. Thank you, IIFA."
