24 Aug – This year's largest investment and co-production market in Asia, Asian Project Market (APM) – which takes place at the 2016 Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), will include the participation of local filmmaker Tan Chui Mui. Tan's project, "All About Yuyu", has been selected for the 19th edition of APM. The Malaysian title, produced by Foo Fei Ling, is one of the 27 titles from 16 countries that have been chosen, out of the 61 countries that applied. According to BIFF's official website, this year's APM "focused more on the projects of up-and-coming directors in its selections", in accordance to its original purpose of discovering fresh talents. Not only does it have the participation from a diverse range of countries, this year's APM also "marks a strong presence by Asian female directors" such as Tan herself, Indonesia's Nan T. Achnas ("Beautiful Shadows"), Thailand's Pimpaka Towira ("The General Secret") and more. Over the past 18 years, 472 projects have been selected by APM, with 200 of those completed and invited to prestigious film festivals around the world.
