"Pacific Rim 2" adds Chinese actress Jing Tian

Jing Tian set to star in the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim".

23 Sep – Chinese actress Jing Tian reportedly will be joining the sequel of Legendary Pictures' "Pacific Rim", entitled "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom".

As reported on Yibada, the actress will be working alongside John Boyega ("Star Wars: The Force Awakens"), Scott Eastwood ("Suicide Squad"), and Cailee Spaeny ("The Shoes") in the movie about giant robots and monsters.

Currently, no details have been released regarding her character in the movie, though it is natural for the studio to pick a mainland star to play a role in the movie, since it would be filming in China aside from other countries.

The movie is not the actress' first English-language work. Prior to "Pacific Rim 2", Jing had already worked alongside Matt Damon and Andy Lau in Zhang Yimou's "The Great Wall".

She can also be seen soon in the reboot of the King Kong franchise, "Kong: Skull Island".

To be directed by Steven S. DeKnight ("Spartacus"), "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom" is set to begin filming in November and to be released in theatres in early 2018.
