Angelica Lee, Sylvia Chang to star in "The Garden of Evening Mists"


Angelica Lee, Hiroshi Abe, and Sylvia Chang are all set to be in the movie adaptation of "The Garden of Evening Mists".

12 May – Astro Shaw and HBO Asia are collaborating for a big screen adaptation of Malaysia's "The Garden of Evening Mists" novel and the movie already has its confirmed cast members.

Angelica Lee, Hiroshi Abe, and Sylvia Chang are all set to portray lead characters in the adaptation of Tan Twan Eng's award-winning novel, Screen Daily reported.

In addition to that, British actors David Oakes and John Hannah are also joining the Malaysian made movie.

"We are excited to bring this classic story to the silver screen," said Najwa Abu Bakar, head of Astro Shaw.

The movie will be directed by Taiwanese director Tom Lin based on a screenplay written by Scottish screenwriter Richard Smith.

"The Garden Of Evening Mists" is set after World War II in British-controlled Malaya, where a female law graduate falls in love with a mysterious Japanese man with a shared common interest in gardening.

Production is expected to begin this month in Malaysia with a theatrical release date soon to be confirmed.
